• During 2008-2010 (average), the very low birthweight rate in Los Angeles city was highest for black infants (2.7%), followed by Hispanics (1.1%), whites (1.0%) and Asians (0.9%). 
• Black infants (2.7%) were 3 times as likely as Asian infants (0.9%) to be born very low birthweight during 2008-2010 (average).
