• During 2008-2010 (average), the very low birthweight rate in San Diego city was highest for black infants (1.8%), followed by Asians (1.0%), Hispanics (1.0%) and whites (0.8%). 
• Black infants (1.8%) were about 2 times as likely as white infants (0.8%) to be born very low birthweight during 2008-2010 (average).
