• During 2008-2010 (average), the very low birthweight rate in San Jose was highest for black infants (2.2%), followed by Asians (1.1%), Hispanics (0.9%) and whites (0.8%). 
• Black infants (2.2%) were about 3 times as likely as white infants (0.8%) to be born very low birthweight during 2008-2010 (average).
