• During 2008-2010 (average) in Brooklyn, late preterm birth rates were highest for Native American infants (11.8%), followed by blacks (11.3%), Hispanics (9.5%), Asians (7.3%) and whites (6.8%). 
• Native American infants (11.8%) were about 2 times as likely as white infants (6.8%) to be born preterm during 2008-2010 (average). 
• Late preterm babies have higher rates of adverse birth outcomes than term infants. Late preterm babies are at higher risk for breathing problems, feeding difficulties, jaundice, difficulties regulating body temperature and death compared to term babies.
