• During 2008-2010 (average), the very low birthweight rate in Houston was highest for black infants (2.9%), followed by whites (1.4%), Asians (1.3%) and Hispanics (1.2%). 
• Black infants (2.9%) were about 2 times as likely as Hispanic infants (1.2%) to be born very low birthweight during 2008-2010 (average).
