Uninsured Women and Children
The percent of uninsured women (15-44 years of age) and children (<19 years) is obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau. Estimates of uninsured women and children by state are reported as a three-year average in order to ensure reliability of rates. Children <19 include all individuals under the age of 19, regardless of whether they are dependents. Data is collected by the Census using the Current Population Survey (CPS), a monthly survey of about 50,000 households. The sample is selected to represent the civilian non-institutional population.
