Empire State Building Goes Pink & Blue

View image

NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 14, 2006 – The Empire State Building lit the New York skyline in the traditional baby colors of pink & blue for the 4th Annual March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Day (PAD).  The lighting was held to bring awareness to the growing crisis of premature birth, which has increased by more than 30 percent since 1983 and is now the number one killer of newborns.  Many other important buildings, bridges, monuments, and other landmarks across the country, including Niagara Falls and Hoover Dam, marked the event to pay tribute to the families of premature babies.  Photo courtesy of Sciascia Photography.
