The Select Panel for Preconception Health and Health Care of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a new Web site Before, Between & Beyond Pregnancy. The site offers curricula, continuing medical education (CME) credits, and other resources for health care providers who care for women of childbearing age
The first CME module, Preconception Care: What It Is and What It Isn’t, is currently available. Over the next several months, four additional modules will be posted. They will address these topics:
- Basic preconception care
- Care of high-risk women
- Interconception care
- Integration of preconception and interconception care into the pediatric visit
Key articles and guidance for the preconceptional care of women with diabetes is currently available on the site. Over the coming year, 10 additional topics will be developed.
As the site grows, it will feature practice supports, other continuing education opportunities, breaking news, and evidence-based practice guidance.
Before, Between & Beyond Pregnancy has been made possible through the generous support of the CDC, the Center for Maternal and Infant Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Center for Continuing Medical Education at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
