U.S. Women of Today

Founded in 1985 in Tulsa, Okla., the United States Women of Today encompasses eighteen states and boasts a membership of four thousand. This organization offers women throughout the country opportunities to enhance their personal growth and development.

The United States Women of Today’s Focus on Women campaign embodies one such opportunity. Women can choose from activities in the areas of: health and personal concerns; careers and economics; American involvement; and women’s issues. Some activities include conducting a ‘healthy eating’ cooking class, attending a course or lecture concerning the Internet, or presenting a forum on the significance of breast self-examinations. The United States Women of Today has designed Focus on Women to inform, educate, and update its members.

Partnership
The United States Women of Today finds its interest in improving the lives of women on common ground with the March of Dimes commitment to increasing access to health care for pregnant women, infants, and children. (A March of Dimes 2001-2002 priority seeks to decrease the percentage of uninsured women of childbearing age from 19.2% to 0%.)

Besides this common goal of increased health care coverage for women, the United States Women of Today and the March of Dimes have complementary missions. A volunteer-run organization, the March of Dimes relies heavily on the commitment of people like the members of the United States Women of Today, who profess in their creed: "We, the United States Women of Today, are dedicated to serving our community and nation..."

Indeed, the United States Women of Today fulfill this commitment well, volunteering for the March of Dimes in their communities throughout the country.
