Solomon Trujillo Elected to National Board of Trustees of March of Dimes

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., JUNE 18, 2001 – Solomon D. Trujillo, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Graviton, Inc., a high-tech, development-stage company based in La Jolla, Calif., has been elected to the national Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, it was announced today.

March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the Foundation and helping it realize its mission to prevent birth defects and infant mortality. Mr. Trujillo has served as a volunteer leader for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, the foundation’s largest fundraising event.

Prior to joining Graviton in November 2000, Mr. Trujillo was chairman and CEO of U.S. West based in Denver, one of the former Baby Bells, after helping to orchestrate the company’s merger with Qwest Communications.

Mr. Trujillo serves as an advisor to the United States government on trade policy as an appointee to the White House Investment and Services Policy Advisory Commission. He also serves as a trustee of the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute and on the Advisory Board of the UCLA School of Public Policy and Research.

A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mr. Trujillo holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Wyoming, which awarded him an honorary doctorate of law in 2000. In 1997 he was named Corporate Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and one of the 100 most influential Latinos in the nation by Hispanic Business Magazine. Mr.Trujillo also received the Ronald H. Brown Corporate Bridge Builder Award in 1999 and the Corporate Recognition Award from A Better Chance in 2000.

Mr. Trujillo and his wife Corine have three daughters.

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies.
