  TITLE: Assistant Community Director

REPORTS TO: Division Director

LOCATION: Nashville, TN

REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Community Director position is accountable for coordinating a variety of fundraising events within the Music City Division through volunteer committees; organizes, plans and implements existing events and develops new events.  The position will be responsible for the implementation of March For Babies in surrounding counties including: Rutherford County, Wilson County and Lewisburg.  In addition, this position will implement any Fall March For Babies Events (potentially Cookeville and McMinnville based on revenue needs) as well as any special events that fall outside of the metro area.  This position will have direct revenue responsibility for $250,000. The primary responsibility of this position will be to achieve the revenue objectives through March for Babies.  The Assistant Community Director acts as liaison between MOD, its volunteers, and the local community in which it serves by recruiting volunteer participation, corporate participation, and sponsorship within that community.

 



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans and implements events as assigned to promote the mission of the March of Dimes. 
  • Recruits and trains volunteer committees to plan and work on events; educates volunteers on the March of Dimes mission for the purpose of gaining and retaining their commitment.
  • Provides leadership, training and support to event committees to ensure success.
  • Serves as staff liaison between event committees, division and Music City Board of Directors.
  • Records and completes necessary paperwork and follow up for future events.
  • Working as primary support for volunteers who manage and coordinate key events.
  • Solicit sponsorship to underwrite costs (25% of MFB revenue via sponsorship).
  • Procure in-kind donations, prizes, plaques, awards, printing for the purpose of lowering fundraising cost.
  • Maintains record keeping including Events Management tools and events database.
  • Oversees logistics of events.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Up to three years of experience required
  • Computer skills – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Verbal and written communications skills
