National Youth Council

The purpose of the National Youth Council is to assist the March of Dimes in the design and implementation of programs targeted to youth. National Youth Council members work closely with other volunteers, including members of the National Office of Volunteers, in the chapters to provide leadership and assistance in these programs.

In addition, National Youth Council members are involved with other national partners, with advocacy initiatives and with the development of collegiate programs.

The National Youth Council member assigned to a particular area can:

  • Assist in the development of youth programs within chapters and divisions.
  • Train and assist youth leaders and adult advisors.
  • Troubleshoot youth program challenges within a chapter or division.
  • Advise youth groups on possible programs and activities.
  • Serve on their local chapter or division board.

In addition to the above, the National Youth Council is constantly developing new materials for youth programs in order to increase the impact and effectiveness of Youth Councils across the country.

National Youth Council members are selected because of their demonstrated leadership ability and their potential for service to the March of Dimes. To find out how to become a member of the National Youth Council contact your local chapter.
