Folic Acid






Folic Acid Campaign

Since 1998 the March of Dimes has been leading a national education campaign about folic acid and its role in preventing birth defects. In Kentucky, folic acid awareness efforts have focused on educating women and health professionals about the importance of folic acid in reducing certain birth defects.

March of Dimes Gives $15,000 Grant to Health Department to Promote the Awareness and Consumption of Folic Acid
The Barren River District Health Department will be receiving a $15,000 grant from the March of Dimes to educate women about taking the B vitamin folic acid daily to prevent birth defects of the brain and spine, called neural tube defects (NTDs). 




March of Dimes invests more than $185,000 to educate women about Folic Acid in Kentucky.
During the past three years, the Mission Investment Opportunities Program (MIOP) has received a lot of attention in Kentucky.
