David Ellspermann is February’s Volunteer of the Month

David Ellspermann is a man of commitment, not just to his family, but also his community. Many would describe him as the consummate volunteer, always giving of himself while seeking solutions to the needs of others. So it wasn’t a stretch when, David, his wife Jayne and their youngest daughter served as the Chairs for WalkAmerica (now March for Babies) in 1998.

After chairing a successful campaign, many would feel that they had fulfilled their volunteer commitment, but year after year David continues to break records and raise more dollars for Florida’s babies. He has the distinct honor of being the #1 March for Babies Adult Fundraiser in Florida for the last two years, and has personally raised over $100,000 for the March of Dimes. His team at the Marion County Clerk of the Circuit Court held the top spot as the #1 March for Babies Team in the county for many years.

Elected as Marion County Clerk of the Circuit Court in 1996, David was recognized as the North Central Florida Division Volunteer of the Year in 2003 because of his leadership throughout the state to involve other Clerks of the Court in March for Babies.

In addition to his work as a fundraiser, David has served on the Advisory Board for Marion County since its inception. He immerses himself in recruiting volunteers, raising dollars, sharing the mission of healthier babies, planning projects, leading committees, developing teams and leaders, building relationships, and attending events.

Recognizing that it is all for stronger, healthier babies, David challenges any Florida walker to unseat his #1 status. Just know you are going to have to work hard to earn it!
