Bringing your baby home from the NICU
There are many things you can do at the hospital and at home to prepare for the day when you will bring your baby home.
At the hospital
Learn as much as you can about your baby's condition, including medications and medical equipment so you'll be better able to help your baby get stronger and learn when your baby needs to see the doctor.Plan for you baby's medical care outside the hospital – this will include selecting a primary health care provider and may also include selecting other medical specialists
At home
Get a child safety seat that is suitable for a premature baby and make sure it's properly installed. At home, get everything else in order ― this includes a place for baby to sleep, diapers, blankets, sleepers and formula, if you are not breastfeeding.
Prepare your other children for baby's homecoming. Let friends and family help out with household chores, watching your other children or preparing food.
Remember, there is no better place for your baby than home with you!
