Working together to improve the health of moms and babies in our community

The March of Dimes Greater Kansas Chapter and our partner organizations are helping moms have healthier pregnancies and babies begin healthier lives. Below are some programs where our grants and awards are making a difference.

Tu Puedes Hacerlo – Managing Gestational Diabetes

Tu Puedes Hacerlo - Managing Gestational Diabetes is a curriculum developed by the March of Dimes and Hunter Health that helps women manage gestational diabetes and stay healthy during pregnancy.  Moms learn about blood sugar monitoring, physical activity and healthy eating.  Babies born to moms in the program have been healthy in weight and size.

CenteringPregnancy

This education and support program combines essential components of prenatal care: health assessments, education and group support. Our program graduates and participants make us proud: The evidence-based approach to prenatal support has been shown to reduce c-sections, premature births and low-birthweight babies. The grant from the March of Dimes Greater Kansas Chapter is used to implement this program at local community medical centers.

39 Week Initiative

Elective delivery before 39 weeks of pregnancy robs babies of needed time to fully develop. We teach moms why the last weeks of pregnancy count. We help hospitals implement quality improvement programs to eliminate elective c-sections and inductions before 39 weeks gestation.
