Model Smoking Cessation Program

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.  Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.

The March of Dimes Louisiana Chapter is seeking eligible and qualified nonprofit organizations to implement a model smoking cessation program for pregnant women entitled, “Baby & Me - Tobacco Free.” The “Baby & Me – Tobacco Free” model is an incentive-based program utilizing the 5As counseling approach to assist pregnant women in quitting smoking and to help them stay tobacco-free after the birth of their baby.

All questions regarding the March of Dimes Smoking Cessation Request for Proposals should be directed to Makesha Judson, State Director of Program Services at (225) 249-5080 or via email at MJudson@marchofdimes.com.
