Holly Fontenot wins Nurse of The Year Award
Boston College School of Nursing Faculty Member Wins in Nurse Researcher Category

Fontenot is a full-time faculty member in the School of Nursing at Boston College and the coordinator of the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Program. She teaches advanced practice nursing in women's health, advanced practice role, theoretical foundations for women's health and pediatric nurses, and forensic nursing. She is also a part-time volunteer Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) at a community health center as a way to maintain clinical practice and precept graduate nursing students in this role.
She has been in the nursing profession for 15 years. During the past five years, she has had seven research and 17 clinical publications in both nursing and medical journals. She has also co-authored a book chapter.
Fontenot has maintained a successful Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) program and has been integral to the development of the Forensic Nursing Program (FN) at BC. She has coordinated the WHNP program for the past five years, maintaining a 100 percent WHNP boards pass rate during that span. As the assistant coordinator of the FN program, which began in 2008, she helped obtain funding, developed curriculum, recruited students, and built community connections to facilitate learning.
