Volunteers Say “Thank You” to NICU Facilities on World Prematurity Day

Westborough, MA, November 17, 2012 —

On World Prematurity Day (November 17) March of Dimes volunteers in Massachusetts visited nine of the state’s NICU facilities to say “thank you” and deliver baskets of goodies, preemie clothes and other treats to the staffs for all they do for the most fragile babies.

Volunteers took time out of their Saturday to show their appreciation to NICU facilities at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts, Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, South Shore Hospital, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Lowell General Hospital, and Baystate Medical Center. It was a special day for all involved.

“Many of the nurses remembered our babies. It was such a special moment to be with those who cared for our children,” said Jodi Rooney, a March of Dimes volunteer. “We each brought cards with pictures from when our preemies were first born and how they are now. Though I would never wish prematurity on my children, something beautiful has come out of it and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a great organization.”
