Discovery Channel's American Chopper Paul Jr. Designs Motorcycle Raffle off to Winner at March of Dimes Signature Event
Southfield, Michigan, December 05, 2012 —A custom built Chopper, built by Paul Jr. from American Chopper was recently raffled off and awarded to Alabama’s own Henry Gehlmann of Orange Beach.
Lamar Construction, a longtime supporter of the March of Dimes, commissioned Paul Jr. Designs to design and build a custom bike for the March of Dimes. The Discovery Channel followed the construction of the bike and began filming in November 2011. The bike was unveiled in February and raffle tickets were sold from February until the drawing on November 19 in Grand Rapids, MI, home of Lamar Construction.
Henry purchased the ticket in Port Huron, MI while visiting his son in July. His name was chosen from over 11,000 raffle ticket purchasers to win the Paul Jr. Designs Custom Designed March of Dimes Chopper.
The March of Dimes would like to graciously thank everyone who purchased a ticket, helped sell tickets, volunteered at a chopper event, and most importantly, Carl Blauwkamp and Lamar Construction for funding and coordinating this initiative. The entire promotion of the bike is estimated to have raised $228,000 for healthy moms and babies.
Research funded and provided by March of Dimes is vital to the health of mothers and babies throughout the country and has directly affected the lives of several members of the Lamar team.
