Working together to improve the health of moms and babies in Missouri and the Metro East
Improving Healthy Birth Outcomes
The Cole County Health Department received a grant to promote healthy lifestyles for teens who are pregnant. The department connects with the young girls and connects them to quality prenatal care, education, and social services.
Kornerstone Teen Mom Program
The Teen Mom and Their Babies program in Barry County is a free program that provides help to expectant teen parents, pregnant teens, and for the teen family through baby's first year. With cooperation of local agencies it provides free pregnancy tests and first well baby checkup appointments, assistance in finding doctors and hospitals and scheduling appointments, parenting and birthing classes, and transportation for appointments in needed services
This education and support program combines essential components of prenatal care: health assessments, education and group support. Our program graduates and participants make us proud: The evidence-based approach to prenatal support has been shown to reduce c-sections, premature births and low-birthweight babies. The Missouri Chapter is currently supporting CenteringPregnancy programs with grants to Saint Louis University, Grace Hill Health Centers in St. Louis, and Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Friends Foundation in Ste. Genevieve.
