The Missouri Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. presented a check for $1,922 to the Greater Missouri Chapter of March of Dimes.  Representing the Zeta Sigma Chapter, Jacqueline Paul-Watkins, Chapter Basileus and La Wanda Atkins-Tamiochus visited the March of Dimes office on June 1, 2012 to make the donation.  March of Dimes State Director, Mary Elizabeth Grimes said, “We are so grateful for Zeta Sigma taking the lead to support research to help March of Dimes learn more about the causes of prematurity and infant mortality which in some communities is twice as high for African-American babies than the national average.” 

Sigma Gamma Rho was founded 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana and became a national collegiate sorority in 1929.  The non-profit sorority’s programs and activities are centered on public service, leadership development and the education of youth.   The group has over 100,000 members with more than 500 undergraduate and alumnae chapters throughout the United States, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Canada, Africa and Korea.
