It specifically seeks to serve low-income pregnant women in a geographical area that is home to the state’s largest minority population-45% who have a higher risk of delivering pre-term(before 37 weeks gestation) or low birth weight (under 5.5 pounds) babies

Elkhorn-Logan Valley Public Health Department in Wisner

The primary focus of this project is to increase health education and information/referral services available to women of childbearing age who use alcohol or other drugs. The project will provide informational seminars for pregnant women who wish to change negative behaviors and lead healthy lifestyles.

Regional West Physicians Clinic in Scottsbluff

The project will implement a Centering Pregnancy model of prenatal care at Regional West Physicians Clinic- Women’s Center. With adequate and regular prenatal care, education, social support and patient participation in self-care activities, there will be a reduction in the number of preterm births, low birth-weight babies, and use of the emergency room and/or triage service and an increase in satisfaction of care from patients and providers.
