Helping moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies
The March of Dimes New Hampshire Chapter partners with local medical groups and organizations to establish guidelines for how to care for pregnant women and premature babies. And we provide grants to researchers working to understand birth defects and premature birth and to find treatments and solutions.
Last year, our chapter supported three Centering Pregnancy programs: The Hubbard Center for Women's Health at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, The Concord Family Health Center in Concord and the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon with funds totaling $22,500. Centering Pregnancy is a multifaceted model of group care that integrates the three major components of care: health assessment, education, and support, within a group setting. Eight to twelve women with similar gestational ages meet together for a total of 10 sessions, learning care skills, and developing a support network with other group members.
