Helping moms and babies in Pennsylvania

The March of Dimes Pennsylvania Chapter funds programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. This includes providing financial support to research and education that will help moms before and during their pregnancies. It also includes working with local medical groups and organizations to improve prenatal care and newborn screening.

Grants and awards are given to projects that address the urgent needs of moms and babies. Grants are generally awarded for one to three years and range from $10,000 to $25,000.

The March of Dimes Pennsylvania Chapter uses gifts wisely. We award grants based on a number of criteria, including the group or organization’s ability to accomplish its goals, as well as the potential impact a project will have in helping us prevent premature births, birth defects and infant mortality.

After careful consideration of some unique opportunities to partner with Family Medicine practitioners and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists on the development of pilot programs, the Pennsylvania Chapter will not be issuing a Request for Proposal for projects in 2011 or 2012. Instead the Chapter will be funding two targeted pilot programs that show promise of reducing preterm birth and reducing risk for repeat preterm birth in subsequent pregnancies.
