March of Dimes South Carolina, Palmetto Healthy State to Select 2012 Heroes in the Field

The March of Dimes South Carolina Chapter, in collaboration with Palmetto Healthy Start, and supported by Low Country Healthy Start, Select Health of South Carolina, Inc, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, announced Wednesday that it is accepting nominations for the 2012 Heroes in the Field award.
The Heroes in the Field award honors individuals around the state who have made significant contributions to reduce the incidence of infant mortality or preterm birth in South Carolina. Recipients of the Heroes in the Field award will be celebrated at the 2012 Heroes in the Field Luncheon, which will take place in September, Infant Mortality Awareness Month.
To nominate an individual for a Heroes in the Field award, applicants are asked fill out a nomination form, found at marchofdimes.com/southcarolina. Applicants are asked to also provide a summary, of less than 1,000 words, explaining why the nominee is a “Hero in the Field” for preventing infant mortality and prematurity. Submission forms will be accepted by the March of Dimes South Carolina Chapter and Palmetto Healthy Start until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30.
Each year, the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes invests in mission initiatives statewide, including research grants and local community programs. Through these efforts, the March of Dimes continues working to prevent birth defects and infant death, reduce South Carolina’s premature birth rate, increase access to prenatal care and educate men and women about having healthy babies.
