Trying to get pregnant

Fertility treatments and multiple pregnancy

To help couples achieve the best outcomes from fertility therapy, the March of Dimes, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine have prepared the paper Multiple Pregnancy and Birth: Considering Fertility Treatments (.PDF, 235KB). 

The paper focuses on two advanced fertility treatments:

  • Assisted reproductive technology (ART), also known as in vitro fertilization.
  • Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH). With COH, a woman receives injections that cause her eggs to grow and mature more quickly than usual.
