Advocate
Advocate for Wisconsin’s Moms and Babies
The March of Dimes Wisconsin Chapter leads policy and legislative efforts that support our mission of improving the health of women, infants and children by reducing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The key to that success is the commitment and involvement of our grassroots volunteers in demonstrating to policy makers and legislators how the work that we do saves lives in Wisconsin. Below are details about our current policy priorities and how you can get involved in these efforts.
2013 Wisconsin Advocacy Issues and Priorities
- IMMUNIZATION FOR PERTUSSIS (WHOOPING COUGH): In 2013, March of Dimes is leading efforts to reduce the incidence of Bordetella pertussis (Whooping Cough) by ensuring that all families of newborns in neonatal intensive care are offered B. pertussis vaccine during their stay in the NICU. See our FACT SHEET. Wisconsin has the highest rate of pertussis in the United States!!
- NEWBORN SCREENING FOR CRITICAL CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE: In 2013, March of Dimes is supporting SB 104 and AB 111 - bills that would ensure that all babies born in Wisconsin get screened for Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD). See our FACT SHEET.

Donate locally
If you are a long-time March of Dimes supporter or just giving for the first time, we could not work to save babies without the generosity and commitment of people like you. Your donation supports programs in your community that help moms have healthy pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it provides comfort to families with a sick or premature baby.
Volunteer
Our work is made possible by thousands of volunteers. There are many ways to assist us in helping babies, moms and families close to home. You can take part in selling sponsorship opportunities, recruiting new volunteers, coordinating outreach to mission families, serving on our Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee, assisting with marketing communications or public relations and much more.
Tell us a little about yourself and we’ll find opportunities to help you get involved.
