Prenatal Curriculum for Educating Women

The Pregnancy Workshop

The Pregnancy Workshop is a step-by-step prenatal curriculum that informs women how to care for themselves and their babies during pregnancy. It can be used with pregnant women in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, workplaces, schools, community and civic centers, homes and places of worship—any place that is convenient and accessible.

The curriculum:
  • Is medically accurate and up-to-date
  • Includes a session plan for preconception
  • Describes how to customize the sessions to better meet the needs of the particular audience
  • Provides a packet of reproducible handouts
  • Includes samples of recommended educational materials for women

It includes six pregnancy-related session plans:

  • Keeping Healthy during Pregnancy
  • Eating for Two
  • The “No's” of Pregnancy
  • Warning Signs and Coping
  • The Big Day
  • Caring for Your Baby

Facilitators do not need teaching experience or prior knowledge of prenatal health to conduct the sessions. The Pregnancy Workshop provides complete instructions for conducting prenatal educational activities.

If they wish, facilitators can become registered users and receive incentives and updates.

The Pregnancy Workshop was developed with guidance from both physicians and nurses. Expert reviewers included Nancy Green, MD, medical director, March of Dimes; Richard Johnston, Jr., MD; Donald R. Mattison, MD; John E. Collins, MSN, CNM, DrPH (c); Karla Damus, PhD, MSPH, RN; Susan Rumsey Givens, MPH, RNC, ACCE; and Mary Neumann, RNC, MS.

The Pregnancy Workshop costs $175. To order, call (800) 367-6630 or (770) 280-4115 outside the U.S. (item #39-1527-01). Prices are subject to change without notice.
