The compendium on preterm birth: Free continuing education credits

Preterm birth presents many complex challenges for health care professionals. The March of Dimes Compendium on Preterm Birth is a new, online curriculum for health professionals about how to detect patients at risk for early delivery and assess behaviors that trigger premature birth.

    The compendium

    • Can be used for self-study or group presentations
    • Features downloadable slide sets for presentations
    • Provides evidence-based perinatal and neonatal medical references and recommended readings
    • Includes print and online resources for professionals and consumers
    • Provides free continuing education credits

    Learning objectives
After completing the compendium, health care professionals will be able to:

    • Describe the increasing rates of preterm birth as a public health problem
    • Identify the epidemiologic, social, ethical, economic and medical impact of preterm birth
    • Assess and address risk-associated behavior

    Topics available now

    • Epidemiology and biology
    • Pathophysiologic pathways
    • Employing systems-based practice for patient-centered care

    • Management of preterm premature rupture of the membranes

    Free online continuing education
For some topics, the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) provides free CMEs and contact hours, which various professional organizations may recognize for elective credit.
