Having a baby hospitalized in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), can be frightening, confusing and overwhelming for parents. In conjunction with the national Prematurity Campaign, the March of Dimes developed NICU Family Support to provide information and comfort to those families in crisis. Guided by former NICU families, the program is built on a family-centered philosophy and addresses the needs of parents, siblings, grandparents and the extended family throughout the hospitalization, during the transition home and in the event of a newborn death. This program is implemented nationwide through March of Dimes chapters and locally in South Carolina at Greenville Hospital System Women and Children’s Hospital.
The NICU Family Support Project welcomes those who are able to volunteer time or materials. If you live in or around the Greenville area and would like to be involved, please contact NFS Specialist Katie Tomlinson ktomlinson@marchofdimes.com
