Carsyn's Story
Carsyn was born on February 27th at 27 weeks, weighing one pound one ounce and she was 11 inches long. She was absolutely tiny, with transparent skin, tiny fingers and toes the size of toothpicks and her tiny little eyes were still fused. She was born early as a result of a very poor placenta that caused her to be severally growth restricted, have extremely low fluid, and poor blood flow through her cord.
Carsyn spent the first 95 days of her life in the NICU. She spent the first month on the ventilator. The second month, after a rocky transition, was spent on CPAP.
Carsyn came home to live with her 3 older brothers, 2 of which had never met her, on June 2, 2006. She came home on oxygen supplementation via a nasal canula but with no other medications. She has had a very healthy 18 months of life at home.

Matthew and Charlie's Story
Christy began experiencing problems with her pregnancy at 20 weeks and was put on bed-rest and medication to stop her contractions. At 27 weeks, Matthew and Charlie were born. Matthew weighed 3 lbs, 1 ounce, and Charlie weighed 2 lbs, 5 ounces. Christy and Brian Davidson began the most heart wrenching time of their lives.
They were told that Charlie’s chances of survival were slim. He had multiple problems and was on complete life support. Matthew was strong but tiny and on a ventilator. Charlie and Matthew spent 66 long days in the NICU.
Today they are 3 years old. They certainly have problems as a result of their premature birth, but they are here and a joy to their parents and all that know them! |
