MARCH FOR BABIES - HORRY COUNTY
Coastal Carolina University at Brooks Stadium
March for Babies is the new name for WalkAmerica. While the name has changed, our mission has not. The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in your community and across the nation. The money raised through March for Babies will support lifesaving research, community services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.
Join us in the first March for Babies and make a difference in the lives of millions of babies!
For more information, please contact Crystal Hummer, Executive Director, March of Dimes, Pee Dee Division, at CAHummer@marchofdimes.com, or (843) 488-3463.
Our 2008 Horry County Ambassador, Jabrell Chisolm
At 23 weeks, Keanne Chisolm was diagnosed with a ruptured membrane. She was rushed from Conway Medical Center to MUSC. She was on bed rest at MUSC for about 3 weeks. She gave birth to a boy, Jabrell Chisolm, on October 16, 2006 at 25 weeks and 6 days gestation. He weighed 1 lb. 14 oz. and was 15 inches long.
“Anyone who has ever had a child that had to be hospitalized knows how hard this is”, said Keanne. She was discharged after 3 days and had to leave Jabrell in the hospital. It was a 2 hour journey to visit him and there was a wait for the Ronald McDonald House.
Jabrell, pictured above, stayed in the NICU for about 4 weeks and then he was moved to a special nursery for 2 more weeks. He made a miraculous and speedy recovery. “Thanks to the March of Dimes and MUSC for all their research and hard work”.
