A gourmet gala to benefit babies in the Lowcountry
Contact: Erin Herrmann, 843-614-3357, eherrmann@marchofdimes.com
Charleston , South Carolina, May 18, 2012 The March of Dimes Lowcountry Division is pleased to announce that Legacy Wealth Management will serve as the presenting sponsor for the 2012 Signature Chefs Auction. The event—which highlights the culinary excellence of the area’s finest chefs, will be held on September 13th at 6pm at the Marriott Crystal Ballroom.
“The March of Dimes touches every aspect of the family, as does Legacy Wealth Management,” said Terry Haas, HGTV ‘Designed to Sell’ star and the 2012 Signature Chefs Auction Chair. “I am thrilled to partner with Benny Firestone and Legacy Wealth Management knowing their involvement will have a very positive impact on the event.”
The evening will begin with generous samplings of each chef’s signature dish. During this cocktail and sampling reception, guests have the opportunity to bid on silent auction packages. The highlight of the evening is the live auction, when the participating restaurants and chefs donate unique dining, travel and entertainment packages that are auctioned to the highest bidder. To date participating chefs and restaurants include: Blu, Cru Café, Halls Chophouse, Oak Steakhouse, Poogan’s Porch, Rue de Jean, and Tristan.
Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year including 184 babies in South Carolina in an average week. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have life-long disabilities. Funds raised at the Signature Chef’s Auction will fund research into the causes and preventions or premature birth.
There is still availability to participate in the event. Interested sponsors, chefs or restaurants should contact the March of Dimes at 843.571.1776
“We are honored to have a company that focuses on the well-being of their clients and families present the Signature Chefs Auction this year,” said Erin Herrmann, March of Dimes Community Director. “The culmination of moving into our 75th anniversary year and Legacy Wealth Management’s involvement will truly make this event the premier Chefs Auction in Charleston.”
Legacy Wealth Management was founded with the goal of assisting clients in their financial lives. They have assembled the most comprehensive and personal service available, as they strive to earn a reputation for excellence in the industry. For each client, Legacy Wealth Management seeks to help create financial stability so they may achieve financial independence. They pledge their knowledge, resources and dedication to integrity in all they do.
The March of Dimes funds research to find the causes and ways to prevent premature birth—an infant health crisis that affects one in six babies in South Carolina and the numbers continue to rise. In half of all cases there is no known cause. Premature babies struggle to survive and may face life-long health consequences.
In 2010 the South Carolina March of Dimes invested 1.5 millions of dollars in program services, including research grants and local community services. Through these grants, the March of Dimes is seeking ways to prevent birth defects and infant death, reduce South Carolina’s increasing premature birth rate, increase access to prenatal care and educate men and women about having healthy babies.
