Lindsay Vickery, Community Director, Upstate Division, (864)551-2649, lvickery@marchofdimes.com
Laurens, S.C., March 12, 2012
Avery Dennison will be hosting their 8th Annual Golf Tournament event to raise funds for their March for Babies team. Gather your co-workers, friends, church, or neighborhood and join in for this great cause!
The golf tournament will be held Saturday, April 21, at Hejaz Shrine Golf Club. Tee times start at 1pm and will be captain’s choice. Cost is $50 per person or $200 per team and this includes green fee, golf cart, door prizes, and food! To sign up, please contact Mark Raines at mark.raines@averydennison.com or 803-940-2572.
Following the tournament, on April 28, 2012, teams from across the county will join together to walk for healthier babies at March for Babies, to be held at Presbyterian College. “Each step we take at March for Babies brings us closer to the day when every baby will have a healthy start in life,” said March of Dimes Community Director, Lindsay Vickery.
The most urgent infant health problem in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects more than half a million babies each year. The March of Dimes is committed to reducing this toll by funding research to find the answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to families who are affected.
In Laurens County, the March for Babies presenting sponsor is Wal-Mart. Other community sponsors include PRTC, CeramTec, Michelin, UTI, Avery Dennison, Asten Johnson, LCWSC, The Clinton Chronicle, WLBG Radio, and Go Laurens. To register, visit marchforbabies.org.
Each year, the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes invests more than 1.5 million dollars in mission initiatives statewide, including research grants and local community services. Through these program services, the March of Dimes continues working to prevent birth defects and infant death, reduce South Carolina’s premature birth rate, increase access to prenatal care and educate men and women about having healthy babies.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
