2008 Chapter of the Year Award Public Affairs Tennessee – Medium Chapter Winner Tennessee is being recognized for two different 2008 initiatives. First, they drove the advocacy effort to add hearing screening to the state’s existing NBS program that expands the panel to screen for 28 of the 29 “core” treatable disorders. Second, as part of a coalition, they fought against an effort to weaken the state’s smoke-free law. From recruiting bill sponsors to testifying before the legislature and speaking on behalf of pregnant women, the chapter established itself as a leader in both efforts. Congratulations, Tennessee!
