Tennessee now requires hearing screening for all newborns!

On July 1st, 2008, our Governor Phil Bredesen signed Claire’s Law requiring hearing screening for all newborns in our state. Advocacy efforts by the Tennessee Chapter included working with legislators, partner organizations, and Claire’s mother to ensure its passage. This issue was also highlighted during our annual Day on the Hill and legislative visits in March 2008, which was attended by over 100 advocates from across the state of Tennessee.
