The Nurse of the Year Awards recognizes Middle Tennessee nurses who demonstrate excellence in various aspects of the nursing profession. This includes nurses who demonstrate their excellence through their administration of health care services, through their provision of clinical care, comfort, and support to patients in various healthcare settings, their education of future nursing professionals, and their advancement of nursing knowledge through research efforts or through entrepreneurial or consultation efforts that advance the discipline of nursing. There is also a separate category that will recognize an outstanding Student Nurse.

WHEN DO NOMINATIONS OPEN? July 25 - September 25

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED? Any Tennessee State Board Certified registered nurse, nurse midwife, nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, or licensed practical nurse in the Middle Tennessee area who has not been a Nurse of the Year award recipient in the past five years is eligible for nomination in one of sixteen award categories.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE ELIGIBLE COUNTIES: Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Coffee, Davidson, Dickson, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Perry, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Warren, Wayne, Williamson, Wilson.

WHO CAN NOMINATE? Patients or their family members, colleagues, supervisors, or other health professionals can nominate candidates in any of the awards categories.

HOW ARE AWARDEES SELECTED? A volunteer committee composed of nurses from various settings and representing diverse nursing roles reviews the nominees in each category. Their final selection of the honoree for each category will be announced at the Nurse of the Year Awards Gala on December 10^th.
