Smoking Increases Risk of Having a Premature Baby
A review of 20 studies revealed that pregnant women who smoke are approximately 27 percent more likely to deliver preterm than those who don’t smoke. Studies also showed that pregnant women who quit smoking are 17 percent less likely to deliver preterm than women who continue to smoke throughout pregnancy.

In 2002, 23,268 Texas women smoked while pregnant.

Texans that want to quit smoking can get help by calling the Texas Quitline at:

877-937-7848 (English) and 877-939-7848 (Spanish)
