On November 1st, 2012, the Signature Chefs event in Austin honored 3 very special families. These families have bravely shared their stories in an effort to support Fund the Mission - a 100% tax-deductible gift to fight against fight against prematurity, infant mortality, and birth defects. Each family has been recently touched by the March of Dime’s mission.
Watch their touching stories here: http://vimeo.com/53000629 and read more about their stories below.
Rebecca & Art A.
in memory of Gabriel & in honor of Nicholas
Art and Rebecca were introduced to the work of March of Dimes when their son, Nicholas, spent time in the NICU after he was born with an infection. Their tie to the organization became even stronger when their second son, Gabriel, was diagnosed with a serious chromosomal defect during their 20-week check-up. Sadly, Gabriel didn’t survive. His memory lives on everyday as Art and Rebecca continue to support the March of Dimes through their tireless efforts with March for Babies. Their hope is to help the March of Dimes reach a day where all babies are born healthy.
Christi D. & Danielle C.
honoring Isabella
In 2010, Christi and Danielle’s daughter, Isa, was delivered by emergency C-section after learning of complications at their 30-week ultrasound. This news was a shock and the doctors had no answers as to why Danielle was having a problematic pregnancy. Isa weighed 2 pounds and spent months in the Dell Children’s Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) after she was born. Christi and Danielle are thankful for the impact the March of Dimes has in the NICU. Their desire is to support the March of Dimes in our efforts to decrease prematurity in Texas.
Marina & Doug G.
in memory of Olivia & honoring Sofia
In July of this year, Marina gave birth to twin girls, Olivia and Sofia. Combined, the babies weighed less than 3 pounds. Olivia had an infection that caused the early delivery and was, unfortunately, unable to fight the infection. After 3 long months, Sofia is still in the NICU, but gets stronger every day. They are also receiving support from a March of Dimes NICU Family Support Specialist to help them through this tough time.
On November 1st at Signature Chefs, our guests got the chance to donate and Fund the Mission, raising over $73,000, which goes back to fund our mission of healthy moms and babies! But we still need your help.
If you weren’t able to make the event, here is your chance to help Fund the Mission and join in the fight against prematurity, infant mortality, and birth defects. Donate now with a 100% tax-deductible gift and honor a special child in your life.
