Each spring, the March of Dimes Houston Division, presents the Visiting Professorship in Nursing Conference. The March of Dimes Professional Education Committee, comprised of local nursing practitioners, experts and instructors, strives to provide the perinatal community with an educational offering that is timely and expands knowledge. Each year, this dedicated group of volunteers identifies and invites a diverse group of experts to share their experiences, best practices and create conversation. The conference also features panels to provide varying perspectives and dimension to the educational forum.
The 2011 conference, It Takes a Village: Enhancing Obstetrical & Neonatal Care Across Our Community, addressed a call to action to improve maternal and perinatal outcomes throughout Houston and Harris County. It was an educational and inspiring day for all who attended. In partnership with sponsors, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, The Methodist Hospital, Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Sigma Theta Tau, the March of Dimes hosted the conference at the UT Health Science Center, School of Nursing auditorium. In prior years, the conference has been streamed live to remote sites in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Arlington and Beaumont we hope to offer this opportunity in the future.
In the spring of 2012, March of Dimes will host the 17th Annual Visiting Professorship in Nursing Conference. Please check back soon for more details about the conference topic and registration information.
