Prematurity Awareness Month Kick-Off Event
Double Tree Hotel, South Burlington
It’s that time of year again to celebrate and honor babies who are born prematurely. The tiny ones who come too soon show us what courage and determination are all about. November is National Prematurity Awareness Month and the Vermont Chapter of the March of Dimes is kicking off the month with a family event. Our aim is to collect 600 items of new preemie clothes to send home with new families of premature babies.
The kickoff will include fun activities for kids and families. We will provide a full breakfast and families will have the opportunity to meet and socialize with one another. Kid’s activities will include face painting, games and crafts. Families will be able to take posters and baskets back to their local community to spread awareness and collect additional donations of preemie clothing via schools, churches, hair salons, libraries, daycares, workplaces etc.
If you can not attend the event, there are many other ways to get involved with this activity. Mail preemie clothes to the Vermont Chapter of the March of Dimes, make a donation towards the purchase of a preemie outfit at the event or via mail, and/or contact the chapter to obtain information about obtaining a basket and poster to place locally to raise awareness.
