Join the March of Dimes – Vermont Chapter in welcoming the Vitale Family (Louis, Sara, Kane and Louie Jr.)of Athens, Vermont and recipient of a new home by Extreme Makeover – Home Edition, as our 2008 Statewide Ambassador Family!
Their Story……. We are honored to be 2008's Vermont Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes. Our younger son, Louie Jr., has benefited beyond description from the types of research the March of Dimes sponsors. When we were 28 weeks pregnant with Louie Jr. we discovered he would be born with serious birth defects. During the last nine weeks of the pregnancy Sara developed a severe case of polyhydramnios; a condition in which there is too much amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. Every week we traveled to our specialists to have fluid drained. They were draining an average of two liters a week. Without these sessions to drain off the excess fluid Louie Jr. may very well have been premature. When Louie Jr. was born his life was already hanging in a delicate balance. Had he been premature he would have faced nearly impossible odds. We are so grateful for organizations such as the March of Dimes that have supported research that helps make every pregnancy a healthy one.
Congratulations Vitale Family!!!
