The Greater Hampton Roads Division of the March of Dimes announces that Christopher Mosley, President and CEO of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, has agreed to serve as the chairman of the 2009 March of Dimes Chesapeake March for Babies to be held Nov. 7. Chesapeake Regional Medical Center will also be the event presenting sponsor.
During the September to November March of Dimes Campaign season, schools, Scouts, churches, civic, military, business and family teams will fundraise for the March of Dimes. On Nov. 7, about 1,000 participants will take part in a 5-mile awareness walk followed by a picnic at Chesapeake Hall at the Municipal Complex, 306 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23320. The walk and picnic are also a celebration of raising this year’s goal of $86,045.
Modern Healthcare recognized Mosley as one of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare in 2006. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He serves as the Immediate Past President of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) and was awarded the 2003 Young Healthcare Executive of the Year and 2008 President’s Award by the organization. Mosley was selected as 2008 Man of the Year by the American Heart Association in Hampton Roads. Alabama State University selected him as one of ASU Today Magazine’s 25 Outstanding Alumni in Medicine.
Mosley is a member of the American Hospital Association Metro Hospital Council Board. Locally, he serves on numerous boards including the Surgery Center of Chesapeake Board Chair, and Board Member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Free Clinic, Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum, Leadership Hampton Roads, South Hampton Roads United Way, Old Dominion University’s College of Health Sciences Advisory Board, Economic Development Alliance, YMCA of South Hampton Roads, and the Hampton Roads Business Partnership.
Before joining Chesapeake Hospital in 2005, Mosley served as chief operating Officer at St. Anthony Hospitals in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, Mosley served as vice president of operations at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Alabama State University in Montgomery. He also holds a master’s degree from Birmingham-Southern College in public and private management with a healthcare discipline.
The March of Dimes, a non-profit organization, funds research, education, community programs and advocacy for the prevention of birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The March of Dimes works for the good health of all babies.
