National Prematurity Awareness Month & Prematurity Awareness Day 2010
Events all over Virginia

The March of Dimes has designated November as National Prematurity Awareness Month to let everyone know that premature birth is a crisis in our country and to bring people together to help give all babies their full 9 months. The March of Dimes is leading a national effort to save babies from premature birth by funding research to find the causes.

National Prematurity Awareness Day will be observed on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in order to encourage the growing collaboration with groups in other countries that have begun PAD events. In the future, November 17 will be the permanent date for PAD, so that all countries can plan and rally around a single day. November will also continue to be Prematurity Awareness Month.

Current plans are to announce a 2020 global target for premature birth on November 1 and to release the state-by-state report card on premature birth on November 17.
