| Kitty Purcell made a commitment to the March of Dimes just hours after her tiny daughter’s death. For more than 15 years, Kitty has steadfastly held to her personal goal to serve an organization dedicated to finding answers and cures for birth defects and infant mortality.
After serving on numerous committees for Harrisonburg, Kitty joined the Piedmont-Shenandoah Valley Division Board. She served as vice chair for three years, and in 2006, Kitty Purcell became chairperson.
“I am going to work to make a difference,” Kitty said when asked about her plans.
And she has been busy making her plans a reality. She has recruited eight new members to the division board, worked with the Winchester Community Board to refocus their efforts and facilitated a new board member orientation for the Piedmont-Shenandoah Volunteer Leadership Conference. Kitty returned home from the October 2006 National Leadership Conference in Kansas City armed with even more goals for 2007. |
