CHARLES B. WHITEHURST, Sr Over the last 7+ years, with volunteering an average of 1,000 hours a year, The Honorable Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr. has volunteered more than 7,000 hours which awards him President Bush’s “Call to Service Award”. Charles is not the usual laid backman; He learned his leadership skills first in his youth as a member of the Boy Scouts of America and later honed those skills as a United States Marine, retiring at the rank of Major. Whitehurst gives because he feels the need to return service to his fellowman, community and the nation. As the head of a number or volunteer organizations, he leads by example and the results have been fascinating and meritorious. Throughout his 69 years, he has made his life’s work inclusive of public service and in 2007 gave more than 50-75 hours of service each week in a variety of capacities — doing each [list below] with extreme dedication and competency.
Mr. Whitehurst, St. is a member of the Board of Directors, Virginia, March of Dimes: In 2005, he was recognized as Volunteer of the Year and was elected to the Volunteer March of Dimes Hall of Fame in 2006. He remains an active member of that board. |
