March of Dimes Virginia Chapter History
VIRGINIA CHAPTER HISTORY

Formerly known as Virginia Capital Area

1984 – Divisions were called Chapters

Bob Willet, State Representative (comparable to current Area Director)

Greater Hampton Roads or Tidewater – John McClung , Executive Director
Greater Blue Ridge -  Zaida Swedberg, Executive Director
Danville -   Louise Dalton, Executive Director
Shenandoah Valley Chapter – Sara Milan, Executive Director

1994 – Reorganized to Greater Blue Ridge, Danville, Richmond, Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont Divisions
Virginia Captial Area became Virginia Chapter

When merging 5 chapters to become state chapter, the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Organizational Structures and the Greater Chicago Development Plans were used as guidelines.

2001 – Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley merged to become Piedmont-Shenandoah Valley Division. Christine Bilbrey, division director
