Folic Acid Campaign in Washington
The March of Dimes has been leading a national education campaign about folic acid and its role in the prevention of birth defects. The campaign has played a significant role in the incidence of neural tube defects contributing to a 21 percent decline in the occurrence of neural tube birth defects between 1995 - 2000. The March of Dimes Washington State Chapter has provided education to women and health professionals about the importance of folic acid in reducing certain birth defects, and partnering with other agencies to provide education, training and vitamin distribution. |
