The March of Dimes announced today that Sue Brendel, CEO of Columbia Energy and Environmental Services, will serve in a newly developed role as the 2013 National Family Teams Co-Chair. The position of National Family Teams Chairman was created for the first time to support and enhance the work of our family teams during the March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies. Two dynamic volunteers, Sue Brendel of the Washington Chapter and Joe Biondo of the Pennsylvania Chapter, have accepted this position and will service as Co-Chairs for our 2013 March for Babies campaign.
“It is an honor to serve the March of Dimes and represent the thousands of family teams who have been touched personally by the mission of the March of Dimes,” said Sue Brendel.
Sue Brendel is a long-time supporter of the March of Dimes. She and her husband Brian have been involved with the organization for eight years. During the March for Babies campaign, she serves as the team captain of Kate’s Team in the Tri-Cities community. Kate’s Team has raised more than $200,000 and has ranked among the top 5 family teams in the country. Sue became involved with the March of Dimes when she lost her second child, Kate, after a few short days of life. Kate is survived by two siblings, her little sister Morgan, and her big brother, Sam who has been a national youth top walker with the March of Dimes.
“Sue is a strategic, visionary leader that is not afraid to jump in and do the work,” said March of Dimes State Director Ashley Summers. “I respect her tremendously, and I know she will forge a new path to support and grow our volunteer leadership both in Washington and on a national level.”
Sue Brendel will be formally introduced in her new role during the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction at the Three Rivers Convention Center on September 28th. For more information, contact our local March of Dimes office at 509-783-1099. Or, go online at www.marchofdimes.com\washington.
